An ace comment, sadly anonymous

Wherever we are in the world, whatever we are doing, we lucky few who have had the honour of wearing the uniform and standing alongside the best that a country has to offer, will always remember them. On those occasions when men and women such as we gather, we will raise a glass and say, with quiet pride, "they were our friends".

Bang on. Pity the author is so shy

  2. Your site is good too. I like photography as well. The trouble is if I walk around Luanda poking a camera in people's faces, the police usually give me a hard time!

  4. Yesterday I tried to photo a piece of land I want to rent and, sure as hell, I was jumped on, first by one individual, then loads more. Who was I? Where was my authority to photo? What was my interest in the land etc.

  5. Hi Hippo,
I'm working on a research paper about the ill-fated mercenary mission led by Costas Georgoiu and his subsequent death sentence. Have you had any problems living there as ex British millitary and is there any reference to those days anywhere in Angola today or is it all forgotten about now? I'm a Brit living in New York. onyesoh@hotmail.com

  7. Brook, you old bugger!

I tried hard to locate you when I was living in CT. I got hold of an aged relative of yours but no further than that. She probably thought I was a tax collector so was decidedly retiscent.

email me on tomgowans@snet.co.ao and we will catch up.

Rather ironic to think of you ending up in UK and me in Africa!
